Men's Combat Shirts for Military, Tactical and Field Use

A combat shirt is built around one specific problem. Wearing body armor or a plate carrier for extended periods generates heat, restricts airflow, and causes chafing. The solution is a shirt with a soft, breathable torso that sits against the skin under the armor, and durable sleeves that handle the mechanical abuse of the rig without wearing out.

M-Tac combat shirts follow that logic across the range. The torso and back use soft, stretch fabrics optimized for thermoregulation and comfort against the skin. The sleeves and collar use NYCO Extreme by Brookwood or rip-stop fabric, both built for durability, abrasion resistance, and fast moisture management.

Materials and Construction

NYCO Extreme models use American-made Brookwood fabric on the sleeves and collar. This nylon-cotton blend is approximately three times stronger and ten times more breathable than standard NYCO, and dries significantly faster. Select models pair NYCO Extreme sleeves with Polartec Fire Resist on the torso, a modacrylic blend that adds flame resistance without sacrificing comfort or stretch.

The Piquet Gen.II model uses a cotton-polyester pique knit on the torso and rip-stop on the sleeves, a practical combination for warm weather use at a lower price point.

Combat Shirt Features

Mesh panels under the arms improve ventilation during high-output activity. Vertical zippered sleeve pockets store small essentials. Loop panels on sleeves and select models on the chest accept patches and identifiers. Dedicated chemlight slots and pen compartments on the left sleeve are consistent across the range. Reinforced elbows handle contact with hard surfaces. YKK hardware throughout.

Where to Use a Combat Shirt

Combat shirts are designed to be worn directly under body armor, plate carriers, and load-bearing systems. The soft torso reduces friction and pressure against the skin during extended wear, while the durable sleeves stay exposed and take the wear from the rig. They work across patrol, range training, field operations, and any situation where body armor is worn for hours at a time.

Who Wears Combat Shirts

Military personnel, law enforcement, and tactical professionals who wear body armor regularly. Also suited for competitive shooters and range instructors who run plate carriers during training and need a shirt that manages heat and stays comfortable through a full day of use. All models are sized in Regular and Long torso lengths to fit different body proportions under armor.

How to Choose a Combat Shirt

For operations with fire hazard exposure, Polartec Fire Resist torso models are the right call. For mid-season and variable conditions, Cordura Baselayer torso models balance warmth and breathability. For range training and warm weather field use without fire risk requirements, the Piquet Gen.II covers the requirement at a practical price.
