Tactical Safety Cords and Pistol Retention Lanyards for Military and Law Enforcement
A dropped weapon in the field or on duty is not just an inconvenience. It creates a window for unauthorized access and takes the operator out of action while retrieving it. A pistol safety cord keeps the firearm physically connected to the operator, closing that window.

Types of Safety Cords
M-Tac personal retention lanyards are available in several configurations. Lite models are compact and lightweight for minimal loadout impact. The Medium model adds a D-ring for MOLLE or belt attachment. The carbine version is designed for longer firearms. All models use the same spiral paracord and PVC construction.
Construction and Features
M-Tac tactical safety cords are built from paracord and PVC in a spiral design. The cord compresses to 280mm and extends to 1300mm. Tensile strength is at least 50kg. A D-ring with MOLLE attachment mounts the cord to plate carriers, chest rigs, war belts, and most tactical belts. The opposite end connects via a carabiner, not included, to the firearm or gear item. Select models feature a combined attachment system with a carabiner on one end and a universal connector on the other for maximum compatibility.
Why Use a Safety Cord
Weapon retention is a standard requirement in law enforcement, military, and security operations. A retention lanyard provides a secondary line of security beyond the holster itself, preventing loss in the event of a fall, struggle, or accidental drop. The same cord works for any piece of gear that needs to stay attached — a flashlight, knife, radio, keys, or phone.
Who Uses Safety Cords
Law enforcement officers, security personnel, military operators, and outdoor professionals who carry a sidearm or valuable gear in conditions where dropping or losing it is not an option.
M-Tac tactical safety cords and pistol retention lanyards are a practical and lightweight addition to any duty or field loadout. Check individual product pages for attachment configuration and compatibility details.
